Today my mom, who so graciously has become Lui's mom since I abandoned him when I moved to California, took Lui to the vet because she just noticed a growth on him. The vet told her to take him to the ER where the doctor told her a huge tumor covered his poor little lungs and he would have only days to live. She decided to relieve Lui of any pain he may be in and to put him to sleep. This has got to be the toughest thing in the world to do and I applaude her courage.
Lui was brother to Valhalla (who lives at Laurel's parents) and from the Palouse in Washington. He bravely lived at the Ashtray senior year, moved to Bellingham, and has been living the past few years in Scottsdale. He was a super kitty and almost like a dog with the way he'd follow you around. If you spent the night with Lui he'd sleep on your head. I am super emotional so the waterworks were in full effect on Sunday, but I know wherever he is now (kitty heaven) is the place he needs to be.
Hopefully this sad news will be balanced out with super wonderful Jackson news soon.
Also, in loving memory of my grandma Ramona (Mona) Dickerson...we remember her on the day she died, August 17th, tomorrow. We miss you Grandma!
Oh, Tara-I'm so sad! Almost shed a little tear, I loved Lui and am so sorry. It's never easy to lose a pet, but like you say he's had a great life and has had lots of love from lots of different people along the way. Just a thought, how does Jackson Lui Holmes sound?! ;). Love you xxxx
ReplyDeleteOh so sad. Sorry about Lui...I bet he was such a good kitty! Funny how we all got cats senior year once we moved out of our sororities...I had a Smokey kitty. Hope you're feeling good soon to be mama!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Tara :(
ReplyDeleteHe is definitely in kitty heaven!!!
Thinking of your gramma too :)
I'm so sorry Tara, but at least he isn't in pain. It's crazy how much love you can feel for a kitty. Our kitty, Boots With the Fur Rinakitty ran away on Friday night for 4 hours and I as devastated, he returned at midnight.
