We have had a TON of visitors this past week so it has been fun to have other people hold Jackson and give my arms a break. We feel so fortunate to have so many friends and family close and able to come and stop by (we even got some yummy meals out of it).
Jackson sent off Justin and the boys to the opening game for UCLA last Saturday, we have season tickets again. The boys even had a gigantic Plunge pool this year for tailgating, they always go really big for the first game. And UCLA won! Double bonus.
Monday we saw the lactation consultant who was very nice. Things went very smoothly at her house, and was able to nurse a few times that day but then he would be very very hungry right after. I am still trying and pumping, but I just have little to no supply. I even got Fenugeek (the herb that makes your milk come in) but it hasn't worked yet.
Today at the doctor we did the 2 week weigh in...officially a 10 lb. 2 oz. baby now. He doe LOVE his formula. Another great bonus is the cord fell off, although we were really cracking each other up making comments on how smelly it was. Ew! And he is all healed from his circumcision. Next up, we have to clip his tongue because he is slightly tongue tied (Justin and his sister were both tongue tied...not a big deal but a factor in breastfeeding and could cause slight speech problems later if not treated now). Snip snip. Poor baby.
Now...off to take a nap while Justin and Jackson watch soccer together. Jackson sleeps pretty well at night but I don't know if I ever really fall asleep completely. He really likes to sleep in our bed, which I know I need to cut off but I love snuggling with him so much it's hard to put him in his bassinet.
Thanks for all my visitors and kind wishes from my friends. Jackson is really lucky to have you in his life.
p.s. I just looked at all the pictures and it looks like he's always asleep or cross-eyed. I promise he's not. ;)
Bryson and Sophia both slept in bed with me. Bryson till 2 months and Sophia till about 9 months. Avah wasn't so lucky I wasn't about to have another kid in my bed :) Such a great bonding experience. Sounds like your 1st 2 weeks are going great. Wish I could see you guys.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy it's going so well, sorry about the lactation thing, sometimes it's just not meant to be, don't beat yourself up about it!! Love the pics, he's such a big boy already and so cute!!
ReplyDeleteOh, and about sleep, I say if it helps you get some sleep to have him in bed with you...DO IT..at least till your more comfortable:)
Love your baby boy, but don't love the Bruins onsie - ha! I hope when the Cougs play the Bruins he wears his Cougar onsie :) He is so adorable! Glad to hear that things are going so well for you guys.
ReplyDeleteHe's sooo cute! Love the updates & all the pics!
ReplyDeleteI felt the same with Makena and had her in bed with me for the first 2 weeks... but then I realized I was never fully falling asleep (probably because you are constantly aware of your baby next to you - especially if you are snuggling like we did) So...I started swaddling her in the miracle blanket (www.miracleblanket.com) and laying her in her bassinet right after her evening feeding. She started sleeping 4 hours almost right away then. (she was only sleeping 2 hours at a time when I was holding her at night) Now she's up to 8 hours/night and we're still using the miracle blanket (that thing really is a miracle) All that said...do what works for you. If snuggling makes you happy then do it! I'm sure Jackson loves it.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've had a busy week! I love the picture of his little Bruins bum. Too cute.
