LA Live Weekend

My birthday kept on going with dinner out with Justin's parents at Aroma on Friday, and then Saturday we headed up to LA for the night. We were lucky to score Dennis Leary Rescue Me Comedy Show tickets for Saturday night and Lakers Tickets for Sunday so we were busy. LA Live has totally cleaned up downtown LA and there are so many fun restaurants like Yard House, Fox Spots Grill, ESPN Zone, Rock N Fish, The Farm....etc. When there is an event it is so crowded down there, which is nice because LA was so ghetto before all the new stuff got built.

We stayed right downtown at Hotel Figueroa which is right across the street from LA Live/Staples Center. It has the coolest decor and is a Moroccan themed boutique hotel built in 1925. I wish the walls could talk to tell stories about what had happened inside. We tried exploring and found a cool lounge that was downstairs and locked up with really heavy wood doors and old turn-key locks. We went out to the pool/bar in the back and I enjoyed a "mocktail" while Justin had scotch....maybe the hotel made him drink Scotch...who knows.

We then went to Yard House for yummy appetizers and NA beer (for me). The comedy show was so funny. Dennis Leary and his Rescue Me co-stars were hilarious and really over the top which is the comedy I really like, like when you can't believe they're really saying what they are.

Sunday we woke up and had lunch at The Farm and walked around downtown LA, which is nice, but still has a few annoying bums that kind of get in your face which makes me nervous, and it makes Justin pissed so not a good mix. We had time to kill so we visited the Grammy Museum which was amazing, interactive, and totally worth spending a few hours and we only budgeted about 45 minutes so we'll have to go back. I even saw J. Lo and Michael Jackson's costumes and really enjoyed all the information...I even snuck a few pictures because you weren't allowed. The Lakers game was at 6:30 and Dave got us tickets through the equipment manager who comes into Savannah's so they were 8 rows up from the floor behind the basket. It was an amazing view, great game because it did get close at the end, and we got 2 Free Tacos from Jack in the Box for holding the Clippers under 100. I saw Kate Hudson sitting on the floor and Mario Lopez....I love seeing celebrities. We drove home afterwards and it only took 40 minutes, I forget how close LA really is with no traffic. It was a great weekend and nice to get away with just Justin. Birthday officially over. :)
