Same toes at Randy's

Abby when she was my puppy. I've always taken her everywhere I go.
Home from the hospital
Spoiled by Mom

This morning Jake T. Thomason entered the world to beaming parents Carrie (Huzar) and Randy Thomason. Carrie was induced after being 5 days overdue. We all thought she would have this giant baby but Jake T. was only 7.6 lbs. and 20 inches long. He's so tiny and just perfect. I got to see my bestie today in the hospital and of course cried right when I saw her. I just can't comprehend the pure miracle of life. So crazy that the little man I held tonight and listened to his cute little baby voice was inside Carrie's tummy hours earlier. They are tired but just in awe of every little part about their man. Jake has this cute tiny face, little turned up nose, and the best long toes that look just like Randy's. I can't wait to share mommyhood with Carrie and for our boys to wrestle, laugh, and get into mischief together. .

On another note...last Sunday was a hard day. Justin and I got home from lunch and Abby my baby dog was unable to get up--her legs couldn't support her. I went to our vet who was already closed but saw her anyway and sent us to the emergency vet. There Abby got carried in and the doctor took a echocardiogram and other tests. She has an enlarged heart--not good and something called DCM (heart disease). When we found her she was in heart failure and ever since then I am so thankful that errands or dinner did not stop us from coming right back home and being able to save her. Abby was released from the emergency vet Monday afternoon and we took her to the dog cardiologist (I know right???--like Grey's Anatomy for dogs). She ran a few more tests and scans and basically confirmed the heart disease. On top of an enlarged heart she had fluid in her lungs and was peeing blood from a kidney infection. Crazy that she never let on she was in any pain. We thought she had been slowing down a bit because of Jackson and not getting as much solo attention and trips to the park. Just last Wednesday Abby fetched and ran and swam for 3 hours at the beach. We never saw it coming. So each day I treasure her, kiss her, give her treats, buy her bones, and she takes 12 pills a day now. Justin even went to GNC and got her doggy vitamins. She is my baby and I'm trying to prepare myself but we don't know if it's days or years so we will cherish every moment.

And Jackson...crawling and standing up on furniture...I wish he had a baby helmet. Am I alone here? I feel bad for him when he takes his spills but he is fearless and wild and I love him.
