Hi mommies....
How do I fly with Jackson. Thinking about going out to Arizona to visit Natalie with Carrie, Dana and Detty and I need to know what to do. What do you do with the car seat/stroller? Its a short flight but I'm clueless. Thanks in advance.
Actually this age is super easy to fly especially a short flight to AZ. Feed him on the way up and down for the ears and if he won't take a bottle try a pacifier. Try to fly during a normal nap time. As for the car seat, I just had Henry sit on my lap. You can take your stroller right up to the gate and it will be waiting for you when you land. As far as the car seat if you can check with your bags. In order to bring on the plane you have to buy a seat for him too. I have a ton of tips for flying as I was sooo nervous to do this by myself for a 5 hour flight solo, if you want to call me. :o) If you need to warm a bottle you can ask the flight attendant to put some hot water in a CLEAN barf bag, place the bottle in it for a few minutes and you are set. I also had one bag under my seat for the essentials and one bag up top with back ups (change of clothes for us both, etc.) Also there is one bathroom with a changing table too. Window seats are the best as it gives some distraction and an extra arm rest. I brought a comfy small pillow for Henry to lay on across my lap to sleep as well. Good luck and go for it! Once they are mobile it will be much harder!
ReplyDeleteOne more thing...if you are giving him formula they make these 4oz sticks that are super small and easy to pack/pour into a bottle. You will need to buy a water bottle after you get through security for water as the plane water is super nasty (per a flight attendant friend) ;o)
ReplyDeleteThanks Misty! You are so helpful. :)
ReplyDeleteHe's so dang cute!
ReplyDeleteYou can bring a bottle of formula into the gate, don't worry, they let you if you have a baby. You can also bring the carseat and stroller right up to the gate too and they'll put it under the plane for you. (that way you know you're going to have the carseat when you get off the plane and it won't be lost somewhere in another state! I think it's a law that airlines let you check your porta crib and any baby necessities (like carseat if you don't bring it to the gate) for free (but call the airline to be sure.) So I usually take the carseat in a "carseat travel bag" got mine at walmart, and then stuff all of my stuff in with that so I don't have to pay for a bag...sneaky me!!
Bring him lots of bottles so you can quiet him down with that. Especially at take off and landing. Hope that helps!!!
