Is that a line?

Due to the fact that creating a blog seems the thing to do when you discover you are pregnant, here is the brand new blog. Special thanks to Dett, Carrie, Nat, and Jen for inquiring when I would start one and letting me know it was okay to make one and not entirely cliche. Ha!

Well...Justin and I are expecting! I wanted to make sure the ultrasound came out before I actually told the rest of the world the new news. We get an ultrasound next Thursday 1/29. However, if you lived in Huntington Beach and went to Savannah's Justin would have already told you since I have had randoms coming up to me congratulating me since New Years because Justin had told them while he was bar tending. He is too excited, he can't keep it a secret. This has made me very nervous, because I just wanted the baby to be okay and out of the first trimester before we shared the news.

How we found out....I suppose right when having a baby was a thought, it became a reality. I should be happy with how lucky we were to conceive so quickly because some of my closest friends have run into frustration with trying. I felt a bit queasy the week prior to my period and decided to take a test, which came out negative. So I celebrated not being pregnant with the grand opening of Ra Sushi with as much sushi as I could eat and I'm sure a few drinks. :) Nice huh? All things you shouldn't do when you're pregnant--eat sushi and drink alcohol.  Well, by the next Wednesday I was late and took another test. This time there was two lines (I showed Ruppy and she said, "Yeah! Double negative!" Ha!).

I always envisioned I would do something cute to surprise Justin with the news, however seeing the two lines I ran to the kitchen where he was cooking dinner and asked, "Is that a line?" Justin immediately said, "You're pregnant babe!!!!" He wasn't scared, nervous, or overwhelmed, it was PURE excitement. I think I was more feeling the scared, nervous, and overwhelmed feeling. :) What a worrier!

Well, since that time I have tried to keep the news very quiet. I had to tell our families because the second I didn't reach for a glass of cab at dinner and opted for juice instead, they would know something was up. Everyone has been so reassuring, excited (Carrie and Natalie cried), and beyond supportive. I love my family and friends. It has also been tortuous NOT telling others as well, it's like the biggest secret I've ever kept.

Right now, week 10 I feel SO tired, like I weigh 15 lbs. more, and a bit overwhelmed. I'm very excited, but I'm cautious and I want to know everything is perfect so I can let go and just get prepared.

Much love to everyone! I have a lot of expecting friends so I'm sure they will be a great asset to me as well. Thank you to our families for their support and love!

Stay tuned for more pregger news!
