Thank You Mold

The MOLD! Ew! Good thing no one got sick. We think it was from the cold outside wall that never gets sun, Justin's steamy showers to get warm, and the heater from the inside...it wasn't a leak but now the wall won't get as cold (and we are not sleeping by it any more)

One of my mold victimized shoes. :( I lost 6 pairs of shoes, but they weren't my favorite obviously or I may have noticed sooner

See Ya moldy wall
My CLOSET (eek) for almost 2 weeks
New carpet...kinda like moving in all over again
My new bed frame, mattress, night stand, and dresser all for me! :)
Justin's man dresser
All the drawer even have cute yellow stripes...makes me so happy and I feel way less anxiety than I did during this whole mess

Around Christmas two pairs of my Vans had mold on them...weird and gross...but I thought it was just because they were canvas, maybe something spilled on them...THEN Carrie noticed mold on my hat at boot camp (which I have done for the past 3 weeks from 5:30-6:30 a.m.--Yay!). I told Justin and he pulled the dresser away from the wall and there was mold growing about two feet up the wall. EW!!!!!!!!!!!!

We immediately called our landlord and moved our bedroom out of our bedroom. We slept in our living room for almost two weeks and Justin moved my closet (gasp--so hard to find anything) into Jackson's room.

We joked that we were like the family in Charlie and the Chocolate Family all sleeping in the front room in the same bed. Even Dett watched Jackson at our house and let us escape to Mammoth for two nights for some much needed mommy and daddy fun.

It took almost two weeks but with new drywall and better insulation, new paint, and new carpet our room is livable again. We lost our mattress set and dresser to the mold, so THANK GOD to USAA Insurance and renter's insurance we were able to get a much needed bedroom set. We even splurged and got fancy Hotel Collection sheets on our own--kinda like a belated wedding present to ourselves. I have never paid over a $100 for a a fitted sheet, but 800 thread count feels nice. I finally feel like a big kid!

So...THANK YOU Mold for my fancy, clean, new big kid bedroom. Even if we did have to "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" it for awhile.

I have to say that I LOVE USAA as well - hands down the best insurance - I just had some car stuff happen and they covered everything and were so great to work with.
The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory comment really made me laugh...when I was a kid I thought that the grandparents in the bed were all connected and that why they had to sleep in that giant bed in the living room - ha!
